Madness for Steve Madden

Written by, Talitha Haynes

Everyone in my circle knows that I love shoes. Especially, if they are on sale. Back in October, I did a YouTube video on a pair of shoes I purchased from Steve Madden (Andiies). I got them during their Mid-Day Madness sale.

Every so often, Steve Madden has a sale during the day (usually from 10 AM-Midnight) hints the name "Mid-Day Madness". If you like Steve Madden's Facebook Page or are on their email list, they will send you an alert about special deals. The Andiies that I brought were $49.99. Almost half off the original price.

Here are some of the deals I got during Mid-Day Madness:

Serum- I brought them in Taupe Suede. Original price $149.95, Mid-Day Madness sale $49.99. The Serum is has a 6 inch heel and a 2 inch platform. It is a wedge, lace-up booties with metallic sliver accent on the back. You can pair these shoes up with just about anything.

Phsychnn- Purple Suede. Original Price $99.95, Mid-Day Madness $69.98. I purchased the Phsychnn at the Steve Madden store for $49.99. The Phsychnn has a 4.5 inch heel with gold studs going down the back of the heel. I wear these with jeans or a black and white stripped skirt (to add color to the look).

Marz- Grey. This shoe is a platform wedge. It has a metallic sliver cap right at the tip of the shoe. The wedge has snake print on it. Original price $99.75, Mid-Day Sale $29.99. I found them on ASOS for $44.89.

Caliko- I have big calves and a over-the-knee boots are hard for me to find.  When I saw these boots during Mid-Day Madness, I didn't care if they fit or not. I wasn't going to let that $29.99 deal past me by. Original price for these shoes are $129.95. They were even cheaper at the Steve Madden store. I was able to buy one shoe for $39.99 and get the Caliko for 90% off. They are brown, with a small heel and buckles for easy adjustment.

Met Gala 2013: Best and Worst Dressed

Honorary Chair; Beyonce in Givenchy

Written by: Talitha Haynes

Every year the Met Gala or Costume Institute Ball celebrates the opening of the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit. The Stars align to turn up the red carpet in this themed event, hosted by Vogue. Beyonce was this year's honorary chair.

This year's theme, "Punk: Chaos to Couture," had the who's who of Hollywood rocking out at the event. The Stars were totally punked out in their edgy head pieces, black leather, colored hair and weird patterns.

Here are my picks for the Best Dressed:
Singer/Actress, Jennifer Lopez was stunning in her Micheal Kors animal print gown. It was fitted, with a plunging back and her punk rock hair.
Entertainer, Miley Cyrus rocked in her meshed Marc Jacob gown. Miley is use to this look, so it wasn't hard for her to pull this 'Punk" theme off. She had the spike hair to match. Loved it!
Rapper/Actress, Eve was gorgeous for the Met Gala. She walked the red carpet in a black leather, cut out gown by, Dominique Auxilly. She added a stunned, spiked out bangle.

Worst Dressed:
Reailty TV Star, Kim Kardsahian was a hot mess in her Riccardo Tisic gown. Some threads should be outlawed were you are pregnant and floral print is one of them. She even had on the matching shoes. Let's not talk about that high split.
Singer, Katy Perry. Really, I know the theme was "Punk," but that costume was a funk. Did Michelangelo design her Dolce and Gabbana dress? She topped this look off with a cross crown and earrings to match.
Designer/Reality TV Star, Nicole Richie's gown was an epic fail. I thought the theme was "Punk" not "Super Hero". She reminds me of Strom from X-men. She topped her Topshop gown off with white hair that matched her white dress.

What are some of your Best/Worst dressed for the Met Gala? Leave your comments in the boxes below.

Spring 2013; Forever 21 Haul

Spring Makeup Look

Written by, Talitha Haynes

Spring has finally sprung. Blooming flower are everywhere and the rain continues to falls from the sky. Yes, those April showers bring May flowers. Luckily for us, we can trade the rain coats for the summer dresses. Spring 20-13 fashion is all about colors (neon's, yellow, black, orange), patterns (stripes & flowers), maxi dresses, short shorts and colored pants.

I love doing this fashion hauls, because it gives me a chance to do a little shopping (what girl doesn't love to shop) and I love showing readers how they can shop on a dime. Lets face it, you don't have to spend your life savings to look like a runway model. With that said, here are my looks for Spring 20-13. I think I spent under $200.

Look 1-  Neon Colors are back like the 80's baby. Everything from pink, yellow and orange. Break out your sunglasses, not only from the sun. But, from the bright colors that everyone will be wearing this spring. I paired a neon or lime yellow chiffon skirt ($13.80), with a black puff sleeve top ($6.80). I dressed this look up with two pair of shoes. Faux leather heels ($29.80) or clear studded peeptoe flats ,($24.80)
Look 2- Tie-Front Floral Sleeveless Top/Colored Jeansyou will definitely plant a seed, and blossom into a beautiful flower this spring. When you wear anything floral. Who said flowers are just for Mother's or Valentines Day.  Another trend for the spring are colored jeans. Floral Top, $8.80 and Colored Zippered Skinny Jeans, $15.80.
Look 3- Black and White Stripes; this trend from the fall did not go away. The great thing about this look, is you can add a pop of any color. Color will give it little dazzle. For the day time, I added purple suede pump (I got them on sale at Steve Madden, $50). Night time, I added high top sneakers (Forever 21,$24.80). This look is the Striped A-Line Skirt ($12.80) and a black tee ($4.80), all Forever 21.
Look 4- Strapless Maxi Dress; the Maxi Dress is great for those hot spring/summer days. This dress is very comfortable. It can be worn with flats or wedges. You can easily take this look from work to play. To add some style to this look I added a denim vest. Maxi Dress, $15.80 and Denim Vest, $22.80 all from Forever 21.
What are some of your favorite styles for the spring/summer? Leave your comments in the below.

Totally Obsessed

Written by, Talitha Haynes

We all have some type of OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. For the a long time I have been obsessed with MAC cosmetics. Everything from their eye shadows, lipsticks and lip gloss. That's until I started doing this beauty blog. I've found that there is a whole makeup world to explore.

During the month of February, I had a chance to participate in a month long beauty photo challenge. Each day you had to post a different photo of things you like; your favorite perfume, makeup brushes or lip gloss you like to use. Day 15 was your favorite lipstick shade. I chose impassioned, candy yum-yum, fresh brew and blankety all by MAC. While browsing though to see what shades other ladies choose, a product from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics called OCC Lip Tar caught my eye.
Lip Tars are lipsticks that come in a lip gloss tube. The pigment in this product is like no other. There are 46 shades to chose from; nudes, pinks, purples, reds even blue. You can mix the Lip Tars to create your own color. Other great thing about this product, is you don't need to pack on the lipstick. A little bit well take you a long way, It's not heavy, does not cake up and will last you all day.

I purchased my OCC Lip Tars from Sephora for $18. I chose two colors and a primer. The packaging comes with instruction on how to apply OCC Lip Tar and a lipstick brush in a zip lock type bag.

Clear; that I use as a primer

 Authentic; a bronzed cooper frost

 Hoochie; a vibrant magenta
